Hard N.O.C. Life

Oct 26, 2018

This week on Hard NOC Life: Marvel cancels more Netflix shows and opinionated writers; 1990 Flash is Reborn on The CW, and Doctor Who has a very special Civil Rights episode.

Keith and Shawn start with Marvel's controversial firing of Star Wars writer Chuck Wendig (1:00) and the uncomfortable intersection between fandom and trolling (5:30). Then, they try to understand why Netflix and Marvel canceled Luke Cage after a well-received second season (10:30), while Keith tries to convince Shawn to give Legends of Tomorrow another shot (15:30). Speaking of CW superheroes, they once again gush over DC embracing its multiverse because John Wesley Shipp is reprising his role as the '90s era Flash (21:30)! Though, they have opposite feelings when it comes to Gotham and why it's so hard to cast a Latino actor as a live action Bane (27:00). Finally, Shawn breaks down the Rosa Parks episode of Doctor Who and what the British don't get about race in America (34:30) before tackling the difference between Black British actors and African American actors (39:00).

What's Nerd Poppin' this week (44:15): Halfworlds on HBO Asia and The Radical Geeks podcast.
